Year 9 Girls, County Badminton Champions

On Tuesday 8th February Chiltern Academy took Kerina, Nelema, Raaida and Priyanka to the Year 9 County Badminton Finals at the John Bunyan Centre in Bedford. The girls had previously finished second in the County in year 7 and were determined to improve on this. Chiltern Academy had to play Bedford Academy, Stratton Upper School and Vandyke School to achieve their target of County Champions. The first game went well with Kerina winning her match 15-0 and the team went on to win the next 3 matches as well and won the tie 4-1 overall. Against Stratton Upper it was a much tighter affair with Chiltern Academy coming out on top with a 3-2 victory in a fantastic tussle for supremacy in the competition.

The final game against Vandyke the girls were keen to showcase their talents and won all 5 fixtures to take the title of County Badminton Champions. A fantastic achievement for all involved, here’s to next year and potential regionals if the success continues in year 10.
