Special Educational Needs and Disability

At Chiltern Academy we seek to meet the needs of all our pupils.

SENDCo: Mr Y Mistry

Email: ymistry@chiltern-academy.co.uk

We are fully inclusive and cater for the needs of our pupils with significantly greater difficulty in learning than the majority of children of their same age and pupils with disabilities.

We will give these children individual consideration and make special provision for them, working in partnership with parents, SENAT team and external agencies, as necessary.

Pupils at various stages in their learning may require additional support and at Chiltern Academy we strive to support pupils to enable them to access all aspects of school life possible. All pupils whether they have special educational needs or not, will have equal opportunities to participate in the full curriculum and all other activities, as appropriate.

All pupils will be encouraged to become independent and take responsibility within the school.

We adhere to the national code of practice for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to ensure that students’ individual needs are met. We do this successfully by ensuring that the Assess, Plan, Do and Review procedure is embedded in our systems.
Our pupils are supported, developed and nurtured by a high performing team of experienced support staff who liaise closely with other staff and school leaders to get the very best out of pupils who face barriers to learning.

Please see the SEND policy for full details and the School Information Report.
Mr Mistry is the SENDCo at Chiltern Academy and is responsible for the implementation of the SEND policy and the School Information Report.
