On Tuesday 23rd November, 65 pupils were involved in our annual Creative Arts showcase. This is the first time in over two years pupils were able to perform on stage to a live audience and the students at Chiltern Academy did not disappoint! Pupils had been working hard to rehearse before and after school and also coming to perfect their performances at break and lunch times.
Pupils performed two performances in one day to a live audience of staff, pupils, parents, family and friends - not easy after a full school day! Miss Corr, head of Creative Arts oversaw the production side stage whilst Mr Brereton teacher of music controlled the lights and sound on the night. After the show Miss Corr is quoted “The Arts are so important. I am so proud of every single one of our pupils. The best feeling is seeing their faces after the show when they come back stage and all share the same excitement, joy and fulfilment from producing a fantastic show and sharing the feeling of knowing their hard work paid off ’.
The audience were treated to an Art display from GCSE Art student’s work along with some of our Art competition work before they made their way into the audience - Thank-you to Miss Peacock for the presentation and preparation for this! The show kicked off with a live performance from some of our music students who performed a drum battle and then accompanied the singers in a rendition of ‘Diamonds’. We were treated to two different scenes from the musical ‘Blood Brothers’ along with singing from the musicals ‘The Greatest Showman’ and dancing sections ranging from Bollywood to HipHop!
A special mention to Miss Shahid for the performances of Cheer and Musical Theatre from the musical ‘In The Heights’. We were also treated to solo singing and poems from our Poet Laureates. The show would not have been complete without the hosts of the evening, year 9 students Krystian and Tommy who entertained the show from start to finish and kept our audience wanting more! Next up for our Creative Arts team is ‘Matilda Junior’ the musical. Auditions will happen before Christmas and the production will take place on the 15th and 16th March 2022 - Do not miss this exciting opportunity to see our pupils once again take to the stage!
