County Cross Country Championships

On Wednesday 9th February Chiltern Academy took 8 students to participate in the Bedfordshire County Cross Country Championships at Ampthill Park. Unlike the town course around Stockwood Park, Ampthill Park is undulating and challenging throughout with an extremely high level of competition. Year groups combine to make it even more challenging especially if you are at the younger age of your category which is the case for a number of athletes.

In the year 7 girls race Abbie came 29th, in the year 7 boys race Omarion 45th. In the year 8 and 9 girls race Chiltern Academy won as a team event in Luton Schools Cross Country Championships by a wide margin. At the County level Tia (year 8) came 30th, Kia (year 9) came 40th, Kristal (year 8) came 42nd, Taesha (year 8) came 43rd and Ulani (year 8) came 48th. In the year 10 and 11 boys race Josh (year 10) who has competed at these Championships each year it has been hosted since year 7 set out at a frenetic pace completing the first lap in 8th place, the course began to take its toll on the 2nd lap and Josh finished a fantastic 11th place which has seen consistent improvement in Josh’s finishes in each event he has participated in. Amazing effort from all students, now back to training in preparation for next year’s event.
