County Athletics
On Friday 25th Feb, 5 Year 8 girls and 5 Year 7 boys travelled to Bedford to compete in the County Indoor Athletics competition. Having qualified from the Luton district competition, the best schools in both Luton and Bedford all came together to compete to be crowned County Champions. Year 7 Boys: Due to absences we had to make some changes to the team who qualified for the county competition, so with a new team we were heading into unknown territory. Together we arranged the events best suited to the team and all 5 boys gave an incredible account of themselves in each event. They never gave up and showed real determination throughout the day! Year 7 boys came RUNNERS UP which is extremely impressive! Well done boys!
Year 8 Girls: The year 8 girls competition consisted of 9 schools. Having won the district competition the girls had a great opportunity to take that one step further and become County Champions. Each athlete knew their role within the team and the support they gave each other was brilliant to see. The year 8 girl competition was the toughest on the day and our Chiltern girls really had to dig deep to be in with a chance of a medal position. As the final races were coming up we knew it would be a close finish and needed to win the 4x2 relay. The girls put in an incredible race, working so hard together and ultimately coming in 1st place. As the final results were read out, Chiltern were in the final 2.... It was either runners up or 1st place. Chiltern were crowned the WINNERS.
Very well deserved, well done girls!
