In CITIZENSHIP, our curriculum is designed to:
INSPIRE MINDS BY:
- Giving students a thorough and in depth understanding of various factors and events that are relevant and have had an impact on the development of life today.
- Exploring how modern Britain has been formed by different events, people, cultures, traditions, beliefs and ideas over time.
- Helping students to create their own opinions of various social and political issues, through the use of topical information, case studies and different viewpoints of arguments.
- Encouraging students to develop enquiries into certain issues, to handle a variety of types of sources and to come to respect the multitude of viewpoints people may have.
- Throughout the course the students will understand how to be more of an active citizen, allowing them to have a greater impact on the communities and people that they are passionate about.
BUILD FUTURES BY:
- Giving the students the skills and understanding of how life in society works and the implications of certain decisions and actions. Students will develop knowledge of contentious issues which will benefit them in many situations in their lives.
- Giving students the knowledge and understanding of the UK political system, ranging from the major UK parties and what they stand for to the different voting systems that we have in place to elect these parties.
- Giving the students knowledge and understanding of many aspects of life, ranging from issues surrounding voting, the criminal justice system & the different forms of government will allow them to leave school ready for the challenges of adult life.
- Understanding why certain people may make the decisions or have certain viewpoints, helps students become more compassionate as people and more impartial as decision makers.
- Preparing students for a number of pathways in life by supplying them with skills and knowledge of highly important and relevant topics.
